Fished at night in complete darkness my whole life. I know what shooting stars look like - see them often. This started as a shooting star and then expanded massively into a brilliant green burn and it lit up the whole lake like a lightning flash would. Only lasted 2 to 3 seconds tops. No sound. The lake was so quite I could hear a whiporwill halfway across the lake clear as day. I have never seen anything like this - it was amazing. And yes..... I'm sure it was not a fourth of July fireworks. It started as a shooting star very high in the sky and dropped quickly into either a downward angle or one directly away from me towards the horizon. I think it came down as the star was going left to right it seemed. There are low mountains on the horizon all around the lake and it didn't drop behind those.
