trail glowed for a couple of seconds, seemed to be lots of fragmentation glowing in the trail (fragmentation moving off to the sides from the objects path)

It was only visible for about 2 seconds but it seemed to be fragmenting for that full time, increasing fragmentation as it progessed (less at the start growing wider at the finish) roughly symmetrical to either side of its path.
